The Perfect Mother Day's Gift

Ever year I plan to be the type of person who plans ahead for Mother's Day and every year I reach the second week of May scrambling for the perfect gift for my mother.

The Idealized Mother's Day Morning
So this year, I am starting now, May 1st, to look for the perfect Mother's Day gift.  Below are some of the pieces I have espied along the way.

Edwardian Gold Filled Locket
Lockets are a traditional Mother's Day gift.  During the Victorian era, a heart locket housing a loved one's photograph was said to represent the loved one's heart resting against your own.

Edwardian Repousse Heart Earrings
Heart motifs are a sentimental motif for a sentimental holiday.  I think these earrings are particularly fine with their beautiful repousse work.

Edwardian Cameo Shell Necklace
Cameo's have always been a beautiful gift and they often depict a woman in profile.  This particular one is done in soft pink shell.

Vintage Czech Perfume Bottle
Purely whimsical, an enchanting perfume bottle is beautiful decoration for the dresser or vanity.

Mid 20th Century Scottish Citrine Brooch

Miniature works of art, I often find the brooch, one of the most expressive pieces of jewelry, perfect to accent a lapel or scarf.
